Celebrating 50 Years of DMW

07.01.2020

Today, July 1st, 2020, marks an incredible milestone in the history of this great company. Daft-McCune-Walker officially celebrates 50 years in business as a land planning and development firm serving Maryland and other states throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

DMW was founded in 1970 by a team of landscape architects including Jack Daft, Fred Walker, and Tom McCune. The firm quickly earned the respect of the architecture, engineering and construction community in Maryland and grew its services from landscape architecture, land planning and site design to include civil engineering, surveying, and environmental services. By 2006, DMW had opened a second office in Frederick, Maryland that expanded the firm’s capabilities in zoning, water, and wastewater infrastructure services. In 2012, we completed our transition to becoming a fully certified WBE firm with the Maryland Department of Transportation and the City of Baltimore.

As we look back and celebrate the founding of our company, and the milestone that we’ve reached today, I believe it is important to take a minute and say thank you to all the people who had a role in DMW’s success. From the extremely talented and visionary team DMW has assembled throughout the last 50 years, to the broad spectrum of clients and projects we have been fortunate enough to work with, I extend to you the gratitude of all the generations of DMW associates. We hope to celebrate this milestone in person one day soon, but we didn’t want to delay relaying our appreciation for all of your efforts and your talents. We can’t wait to see what the next 50 years has in store.

Sincerely,

Lisa Gobrecht,
President
